Steinbergs Honour Their Grandchildren with Sherman Campus Gift

UJA Federation of Greater Toronto is excited to announce a visionary gift of $5 million from philanthropic leaders Charlotte & Lewis Steinberg and family, for the development of Sherman Campus on Bathurst St, just north of Sheppard Ave., through the naming of the Charlotte and Lewis Steinberg Family Cultural Pavilion.

“We are honoured to contribute to such an important project for our community” said Lewis Steinberg. “This gift is about ensuring a vibrant future and we are most proud to make it in honour of our grandchildren who we love and adore. We have no doubt that our grandchildren, and future generations, will benefit greatly from the new developments on Sherman Campus for many years to come.”

“We were fortunate enough to have wonderful parents who instilled in us a great sense of responsibility to support and participate in our community,” said Charlotte. “We are proud to set an example of philanthropy for our children and grandchildren, as it has been so important to both of our families.”

The Charlotte and Lewis Steinberg Family Cultural Pavilion will be a beautiful space on Sherman Campus that will enrich the community through the gift of arts and culture. The Pavilion will ensure that Toronto residents and visitors have the opportunity to enjoy, participate and explore in cultural programming and events such as lectures, musical performances and exhibitions.

“The Steinbergs’ generous gift is a remarkable and vital contribution to our community,” said Fred Waks, Chair of the Sherman Campus Campaign. “This gift is instrumental in creating a dynamic space, filled with meaningful programs that will touch thousands of lives in Toronto. The Steinbergs are an inspiring example of philanthropists who are committed to the future of our community and we are thrilled to have their support for this momentous project.”
