The Chai Tikvah / The Life and Hope Foundation is hosting our fourth annual gala dinner and auction on Thursday, 25 May, 2017 at District Oven restaurant in Toronto, starting at 6:30 p.m.!

District Oven restaurant is located at 842 College St; Toronto, ON; M6H 1A2.

Our guest speaker this year is Canadian boxing legend and motivational speaker George Chuvalo, who the great Muhammad Ali said was “the toughest guy I ever fought,” to the Toronto Star in 1966.

In case you are not aware, Chai-Tikvah/The Life and Hope Foundation is an organization that provides housing in the community for adults with mental illness who cannot be taken care of at home. Ironically, when someone is well enough to live outside of hospital and in the community with support – there are very few housing options and certainly not enough to meet the needs of the GTA.

We currently have two homes: the Jerry Turk Fellowship Home, and the Life & Hope Foundation Triplex, a residential facility that provides people the ability to live semi-independently within their community, while receiving the necessary support to cultivate their life living skills and manage their mental health issues. We also provide supportive services to the community, including to former residents of our home who have now integrated back into the community.

The timing of this event is extra poignant this year, as we have just purchased a building at 14 Fraserwood Ave. in Toronto, wherein we will be able to support more people in the community. This Gala provides you with a unique opportunity to partner with us as we increase our potential to provide desperately needed housing, service, and support to those with mental illness in the Greater Toronto Area.

In 2016, we reached our goal by raising $20,000 for our cause. This year, our goal is to raise $30,000. All funds raised through the evening will go directly towards supportive housing for mental health.
