Jewnique makes its world premiere at the Al Green Theatre on May 10, 2018.

Poet David Silverberg harnesses his career as a journalist and his spoken word talent to create a new stage show unlike anything you've seen before. David interviews luminaries and legends in Ontario Judaism to learn more about their connections to Jewish culture, in order to find inspiration in how they embraced Jewish culture in Ontario and beyond.

Among the profile subjects whose stories will be told via David's poetry: Judy Feld Carr, a social activist who worked to help ferry out 3,200 Syrian Jews out of a country where they were abused for years; musician David Buchbinder, who created the Ashkenaz Festival at Harbourfront Centre and whose passion for klezmer is unparalleled; Moshe Krause, a Holocaust survivor and former cantor of Ottawa's Beth Shalom Synagogue; Judy Perly, the owner of Free Times Cafe where the world's only weekly Jewish brunch buffet offers a nostalgic nod to Kensington's Jewish past; Igal Hecht, a prolific documentary filmmaker unafraid to tackle the most controversial subjects affecting Jews in Canada and Israel; and many more.
