Temple Sinai’s Renaissance Group Presents High Maintenance
Sunday, October 24, at 7.30 p.m.
This is a virtual screening of the film.

A film by Israeli documentarian Barak Heymann
Winner Jerusalem Film Festival 2020 and Favourite at the Toronto Jewish Film Festival 2021

“Nature is my boss,” declares acclaimed Israeli sculptor Dani Karavan. Karavan’s nearly 100 site-specific monuments have been installed globally, but now are deteriorating much like his own health. In this film, we follow Karavan’s spirited journey across Europe and Israel as he shines a light on the state of his work and his own ageing. Devoted to peace over politics, he finds himself embroiled in a controversy over a proposed installation in Poland commemorating the Polish citizens who rescued Jews during WWII. In this captivating documentary, director Barak Heymann weaves together comedy and politics, art and medicine to reveal a portrait of Karavan, who refuses to be forgotten.
