THE RESCUE
The Story of Jose Arturo Castellanos
The Latin American Wallenberg
"The Rescue" - A Live Film-Concerto – highlights the life of Colonel Jose Castellannos, recognized by Yad Vashem as a Righteous Diplomat. Col. Castellanos, based in Geneva during WW II, disapproved of the dictatorship in his own country, El Salvador, and of Nazi fascism. He issued Salvadoran citizenship documents which saved the lives of over ten thousand Jews.
The Film-Concerto is a celebration - a story of hope, friendship and courage in the face of injustice and a window into the life of a true hero and rescuer with the backdrop of live music performed and directed by his grandsons Alvaro and Boris Castellanos. This has captivated audiences of all ages in Chile, Argentina, Panama, Germany, USA, China and other countries.
At the core of this drama lie the message and the conviction that no matter how small or flawed we may feel, each one of us has the ability to make positive change in the world.
