What's all the fuss about Kabbalah?
Its relevance for today with Rabbi Lawrence Englander (In-person and Virtual)
Wednesdays, May 11, 18, 25, and June 1
from 7.00 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.
Some people think that Kabbalah — the Jewish mystical tradition — is a combination of magic and nonsense. Others believe that its teachings enrich their spiritual connection to God, Torah and the Jewish people.
We’ll look at both sides of this argument as it has developed through Jewish history and will study texts that will help us land upon the “enrichment” side.
Topics include:
• The Talmudic period’s “Mystics of the Chariot,” championed by none less than Rabbi Akiva
• The Zohar of 13th century Spain, which revolutionized the understanding of the Torah
• The Hasidic Rebbes of 18th and 19th century Europe, who applied mystical teachings to everyday life.
May 11 will be offered as a hybrid session. Register for more information.
