Join us for the first event of our Arts & Ideas Speaker Series with Dr. Anna Shternshis, Director of the Centre for Jewish Studies at the University of Toronto.

Soviet Jews lived through many traumatic events: the Great Terror, the Holocaust, the Famine of 1947, the Doctor’s Plot, anti-Semitic government policies, and the collapse of the Soviet Union. But like millions of others, they married, raised children, and built careers, pursuing life as best they could in a profoundly hostile environment. This talk will analyze how being Jewish influenced these decisions, and what they meant for the future of Russian Jews.
