One Happy Camper Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I have two children attending camp this summer for the first time. Can I get a $1000 grant for each of them?

A. the first child in a family is eligible for a $1000 grant. Any siblings, including twins, are eligible for a $500 grant.

 

Q. I live outside of the GTA, is my child eligible for the OHC grant?

A. Unfortunately, only families residing in the GTA are eligible for the grant. However, if your family has received PJ Library books – currently or in the past, you may be eligible for the PJ Library Goes to Camp grant.  Have a look at the website here to see if PJ Library Goes to Camp is right for you: https://pjlibrary.org/Beyond-Books/PJ-Goes-to-Camp

 

Q. My child is registered for the Kulam program at Camp George. The program is only 14 days. Is my child eligible for this grant?

A. For those parents registering children for the Camp George Kulam program, please contact Atara Rosenberg at arosenberg@ujafed.org with the subject line ‘OHC for Kulam question’.

 

Q. The camp I want to send my child to is listed on the One Happy Camper main website, but it is not listed when I fill out my application?

A. The Foundation for Jewish Camping One Happy Camper website lists over 155 partner camps. The OHC Toronto grant is only applicable for the specific Toronto partnership camp listed above. Please refer to the 15 partner camps listed on the OHC Toronto Website.

 

Q. I submitted my application for OHC and have not gotten a response. When will I be contacted to know if the application was approved?

A. You should hear back about your application 3 to 4 weeks after it is submitted. Please wait at least 4 weeks before inquiring after you application’s status.

 

Q. When will I receive the OHC grant money?

A. The OHC grant money is sent directly to the camp your child will attend. Please direct questions regarding the grant money to the camp your child will attend.

 

Q. I am having trouble with the OHC application. Who can I contact for assistance?

A. Contact Atara Rosenberg if you need assistance with completing your online application. Please allow 2-3 days for a response. arosenberg@ujafed.org.

 

Q. I have been told that I am not eligible for the OHC grant and I don’t know why.

A. Please refer to the Eligibility criteria check list here https://jewishtoronto.com/camp or contact Atara Rosenberg at arosenberg@ujafed.org.

 

Q.  Do I need to demonstrate a need for financial aid in order to get the OHC grant?

A. No. Applicants/Prospective campers do not need to demonstrate financial need.

 

Q. My child attends Jewish day school, is she eligible for the grant?  

A. OHC Toronto is proud to be one of the few OHC delegates to offer grants to Jewish Day School students.
