Human Resrources Intern

JIAS Toronto is a charitable organization dedicated to the welcome, settlement, and integration of new immigrants and refugees in the Greater Toronto Area. JIAS Toronto supports newcomers through case management, referrals to a wide variety of community and government agencies, workshops, and programs to support integration, and formal and informal language learning programs. We work to advance the wellbeing and social integration of all newcomers by providing a range of services and programs

As an HR Intern, you will be working closely with the HR Team, assisting them with administration and recruitment. This part-time contract position is funded by Canada Summer Jobs and requires the incumbent to be between the ages of 18 to 30 years of age and be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment. This position will pay $14.25 per hour up to 336 hours. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Inputting historical data into the HRIS system and training databases
  • Providing payroll and administrative support to the HR Assistant and HR Manager
  • Maintaining HR and employee files
  • Assisting with compiling HR related statistical data
  • Assisting in updating agency policies and employee handbooks.
  • Supporting the HR team with recruitment by developing job postings and performing screenings.
  • Assisting with scanning, copying, and filing of HR documents and maintenance of HR files
  • Other duties, as assigned


  • Post-secondary education in the area of Human Resources Management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in policy and procedure writing will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
  • Knowledge in ADP Workforce now is an asset
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Self-motivated and able to perform with minimal supervision.
