Jewish Service Outreach Coordinator, Israel Engagement

Part-time contract (approx. 6 months)
 
Reports to: Jewish Service Programs Associate, Israel Engagement
 
Role & Responsibilities:
  • Recruit high school students for Jewish Service Programs
  • Familiarity with local high schools, organizations, and clubs
  • Be a consistent presence in youth groups and high school clubs (JSU’s, Torah High, BBYO, CYJ, Shul Youth groups) and organize student events
  • Active presence at high school fairs, events and classroom activities
  • Be a brand ambassador for Jewish Service, by disseminating information at high school events and during select lunch periods 
  • Solicit and schedule in-class presentations for high school students
  • Actively participate in the planning and execution of Jewish Service events
  • Work in coordination with Shinshinim and Shlichim
  • Engage Diller Teen Fellows alumni, in coordination with Diller Teen Fellows Coordinator
  • Participate in Diller Teen Fellows Alumni Events
  • Prepare high school content for the Jewish Service Instagram account
Qualifications: 
  • University student or recent graduate
  • Passion for educating and mentoring teens on/about Israel
  • Experience visiting Israel
  • Experience with teaching, lecturing and/or public speaking 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience with Jewish organizations, on campus and/or in high schools 
  • Leadership experience (i.e. camp, youth movements, synagogues and teen programs)
  • Comfortable working in educational institutions and works well with teens
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency with MS Office and internet applications
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, organized, reliable, team player, proactive, strong work ethic, leadership skills; ability to multitask
  • Some travel may be required (GTA and surrounding cities). Successful candidate must have frequent access to a reliable vehicle
  • Possibility of travel to Israel. Successful candidate must hold a valid passport and have no travel restrictions
Assets:
  • Experience working in the not for profit sector
  • Familiarity with Toronto’s Jewish community 
  • Fluent in Hebrew (reading, writing, speaking)
Classification:         Approx. 6-month contract.  Approx. 20-25 hours per week.
Compensation:       $20/hr.
