Maccabi Canada’s mission is to promote Jewish identity and leadership through the passion of sports.
The Maccabiah Games, a prominent international sports competition, often referred to as the “Jewish Olympics” is held every 4 years in Israel, and in 2017 the Maccabiah hosted 10,000 athletes representing 80 countries, making it the third largest athletic event in the world, behind only the Summer Olympics and the Asian Games. Maccabi Canada sent 600 proud athletes and staff to the last Maccabiah games and was the second largest international delegation.
Maccabi Canada focuses on creating a path of engagement with the Jewish world, Jewish identity and Israel by engaging youth and young adults through their passion for sport. Maccabi Canada takes athletes who are Jewish to Israel, gives them an Israel experience of a lifetime and brings back Jewish athletes.
