Summer Internships

Jewish Family & Child 4600 Bathurst Street, Toronto ON

Jewish Family & Child is a multi-service, client-centered agency, and a Children’s Aid Society supporting the healthy development of individuals, children, and families; we are seeking Summer Interns to join various departments at the Agency from June to August 2019.

The pay rate for the below positions is $14.00 per hour.

Development & Communications Intern

The successful candidate will be responsible for 

  • Donor Stewardship
  • Making thank you calls to donors
  • Assisting with the preparation of donor stewardship reports
  • Events:
  • Planning of fundraising events
  • Fundraising Initiatives:
  • Supporting the Rosh Hashana Tribute Card campaign throughout the summer
  • Assisting with Giving Tuesday research and grant research
  • Team support:
  • Answering the donation line and accepting donations
  • Preparing and printing tribute cards
  • Assisting with data hygiene in order to ensure clean data
  • Identifying social media opportunities & creating content
  • Digitizing data and files
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point)
  • Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge is an asset
  • Some post-secondary education in Fundraising/Communications preferred

Human Resources Intern

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Entering historical data into the Human Resources Information System
  • Entering data into the training database
  • Providing administrative support to the HR team
  • Assisting with scanning, copying and filing of HR documents and maintenance of HR files
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Some post-secondary education in the area of Human Resources Management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Information Technology Intern

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Resolving and track open service tickets related to IT issues reported by Agency staff.
  • Assisting in documenting best practices, processes and procedures.
  • Providing basic training for users on existing information technology tools and systems.
  • Supporting a variety of desktop related projects such as enhancement to the Agency's IT Hardware, connectivity, and software upgrades.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Some post-secondary education in Information & Communication Technology
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in hardware and software troubleshooting is an asset
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Office Administration Intern (2 positions)

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Assisting staff with scanning and preparing documents to upload into a case management system
  • Assisting staff in organizing meetings and telephone calls with collaterals.
  • Reception coverage for vacation, sick and lunch
  • Administering and managing inbound/outbound mail, including priority post, packages, courier services and other correspondence
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), knowledge of office equipment such as fax, photocopiers, etc.
  • Some post-secondary education Office Administration is an asset
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills

Program Facilitator – Family Resource Centre (2 positions)

The successful candidates will be responsible for assisting Program Facilitators and the families accessing the program. They will interact with families and children, providing support and referrals to programs while ensuring the safety and well-being of the children at the centre. They will assist with the set-up and clean-up of creative activities and play materials as well as ensuring that all toys and equipment used in activities are safe and properly functioning.

Qualifications:

  • Some post-secondary education in the area of Early Childhood Education or Social Service Worker/Child & Youth Worker.
  • Some working knowledge of “Play based learning”.
  • Experience in programming for children ages 0-5 will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to establish rapport, credibility and build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy and the ability to be flexible and appreciate diversity within families and staff.
  • Willing to work in all programs at the Family Resource Centre.
