The goal of the City Shul's school is to infuse our younger members with a positive enriching, and joyful educational experience.
This experience includes making friends, feeling a part of the larger Jewish world, experiencing the diversity of Jewish life, feeling comfortable and confident with Jewish ritual, being familiar with Jewish worship and its many different forms, able to read the Hebrew language and having a basic and functional Hebrew vocabulary, and finding purpose, beauty, pride, meaning and relevance in being Jewish.
Our religious school programme is a once-a-week weekday after-school programme. Meeting on Tuesdays, the Judaica portion (History Torah Holidays, Prayers Ethics, etc) meets from 4:15-5:15 for grades SK through pre-Bar/Bat Mitzvah. A healthy nut free snack provided by the school is served from 5:15-5:30 and SK through grade 3 are dismissed. Grades 4 and above stay on from 5:30-6:15 for Hebrew language instruction. Our unique Hebrew programme includes 30-45 minutes a week of fun, online computer Hebrew games and exercises that are done at home in addition to school time. We also offer an experiential pre-Bar/Bat Mitzvah year programme with Rabbi Goldstein and guest teachers that will stimulate kids to think deeply about the meaning of their Bar and Bat Mitzvah. Our school's vision is an integrated school/shul experience.
To build a school/shul community our school is available only to members of the City Shul. We ask school families to make a covenant with our school, just like our covenant of membership in City Shul. Check our website for all the details.
