Since the Schwartz/Reisman Centre began to work in collaboration with the Israeli Forum and Israeli Outreach committees, the Mifgash Program has become a primary address for the Israeli community acting as a hub of cultural, educational and social activity for the Israeli community.

Established by the Schwartz/Reisman Centre and UJA Federation in 2005, it offers all Jews living in the Greater Toronto Area an opportunity to meet and express their diversity on a common ground of acceptance and unity. Through experiences working specifically with the Israeli Canadian community we have learned to appreciate the needs and desire for special Israeli cultural and community events.

The need to express identity, language and culture is not only unique to the Israeli community, but other communities as well. By creating a place for all these diverse backgrounds to give give their experience a cultural and artistic voice, they can take important steps towards creating a more unified Jewish community where all backgrounds are embraced.

Schwartz/Reisman Centre's Hamifgash Theatre - a pioneering effort established the only Hebrew community theatre in Toronto.  Contact: Galya Sarner (Director, The Israeli Candian Project) gsarner@ujafed.org
