The Israeli Scout movement (Tzofim) began in the early 1960s and is unique in that it is the only Israeli youth movement that is both non-political and non-sectarian.
Shevet Hermon, the local Israeli Scouts chapter was founded in 2004 by parents and youth volunteering in the Israeli community in Toronto. The local Tzofim organization offers the youth a social structure, enriched with interactive scouting activities of Jewish Israeli flavour for the children and the youth of the Canadian Jewish Hebrew Speaking community. This enhances the sense of belonging to the Jewish general community, gets these young people actively involved in the community and prepares them to become future community leaders.
All the activities are held in the Hebrew language and are conducted solely by the Scouts Youth leaders and counsellors.
The Tzofim Israeli Scouts consists of the younger group: Grades 3 to 9 and the older youth volunteers from grades 10 to 12 who receive community volunteer hours.
