CIJA & UJA’s Annual Legal Conference

The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) and UJA Federation of Greater Toronto are pleased to present their 4th annual legal conference, The Rule of Law in Times of Crisis, by webinar this year. Join your peers from across Canada to hear about the legal issues brought into sharp relief by recent world events that have impacted us all. An array of expert speakers and panelists will examine how times of crisis challenge the rule of law, including:

  • An opening keynote by The Honourable Thomas Albert Cromwell, Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada (retired)
  • A mid-day keynote address by The Honourable Justice Michael Tulloch of the Ontario Court of Appeal
  • Attorneys General David Lametti (Canada) and The Honourable Doug Downey (Ontario) discussing how governments have worked to balance individual rights and public protection in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Other esteemed panelists examining relevant constitutional issues in Canada, the United States, and Israel; intrusions on civil liberties in times of crisis; and protecting the rights of minorities

John Rosen, Chair, CIJA Legal Task Force & Conference Co-Chair
Larry Weinberg, UJA, Conference Co-Chair

A portion of the proceeds raised will go to the Lawyers Feed The Hungry program.

This program contains 2 hours of EDI Professionalism Content.

Please register by February 5th at 4:00pm.
