This series will screen two films from Israel, and feature a reception with the stars. April 21 is the showing of On the Map, the incredible story of Maccabi Tel Aviv's 1977 European Championship, at a time when the Middle East was still reeling from the 1973 Yom Kippur War, the 1972 Olympic Massacre at Munich and the 1976 highjacking of an Air France jet from tel Aviv. Through the lens of sports, a much broader story is told of how one team captured the hearts of a nation. A Saturday night reception will be held with legendary superstar player Tal Brody. April 22 is the screening of An Israeli Love Story, a passionate true story of love and independence. Margalit, a budding actress, meets and falls in love with Eli. She tries to get close to him, but he is busy with the dramatic events preceding the birth of Israel. Slowly the barriers come down, and as they set up a date for a wedding, Israel's harsh reality intervenes.
