In light of recent events in Manchester over Yom Kippur, we want to reassure our community that your safety remains our top priority. Working in close partnership with law enforcement, enhanced security measures are in place throughout Sukkot and the upcoming October 7th anniversary period to help ensure a safe and meaningful time for everyone.
Police in Greater Toronto have maintained a heightened presence across the community during the High Holidays and have confirmed that this will continue through Sukkot and the anniversary period. Additional resources are being deployed to support our institutions, and law enforcement remains actively engaged and vigilant.
The Jewish Security Network (JSN) has been working closely with synagogues across the community to strengthen preparedness measures, coordinate on a community-wide basis, and provide support tailored to individual congregations.
As a reminder of our ongoing safety practices, we ask community members to avoid congregating outside synagogues and institutions, and either remain inside or head home after services.
Healthy vigilance plays a key role in keeping our community safe. If you see something that concerns you, speak up immediately. Always call 911 first, and once safe to do so, contact the JSN’s 24-hour incident reporting line at 437-222-3999.
Together with law enforcement, we are taking proactive, coordinated steps to keep our community safe and secure during Sukkot, the October 7th anniversary, and beyond.
