We are pleased to share a significant moment for Jewish education in our community.

TanenbaumCHAT’s campus on Wilmington Avenue has been officially dedicated as the Honey & Barry Sherman Campus, honouring the extraordinary legacy of Honey and Barry Sherman z"l and their enduring belief in nurturing and strengthening Jewish life in Toronto. With this dedication, the school will be known as the Anne & Max Tanenbaum Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto (TanenbaumCHAT), located on the newly named Honey & Barry Sherman Campus.

Today, students, families, community leaders, and friends came together to celebrate this special occasion and reveal the new Honey & Barry Sherman Campus signage. It was a meaningful moment for TanenbaumCHAT and our broader community—honouring an extraordinary legacy while looking ahead with pride and optimism to a strong Jewish future in Toronto.

The dedication follows Kaelen Sherman’s transformational $25 million gift establishing the Honey & Barry Sherman Jewish Education Fund. Housed at the Jewish Foundation and facilitated by UJA, the permanent fund will sustain and expand tuition assistance at TanenbaumCHAT, helping more families access a Jewish high school education now and for generations to come. Together, the Fund and campus dedication carry forward Honey and Barry’s values while reflecting Kaelen’s commitment to expanding access to Jewish education and investing in the future of our community.

For the students who walk through TanenbaumCHAT’s doors each day, the Honey & Barry Sherman Campus will be a lasting reminder of the difference that leadership, generosity, and a deep commitment to community can make.

We are deeply grateful to Kaelen Sherman for this transformational investment in Jewish education and the future of Jewish Toronto—helping ensure that generations of young people have the opportunity to build strong Jewish identities, deepen their connection to community, and carry Jewish life forward with confidence.
