UJA Federation cooks up breakfast with Natan Sharansky

On July 15, approximately 70 of UJA’s leading donors enjoyed breakfast with Natan Sharansky, Chairman of the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), UJA Federation’s overseas partner. Hosted and sponsored by Gluskin Sheff & Associates Inc., attendees heard from Sharansky, a human rights activist and, in the 1970s, the unofficial spokesman on behalf of Soviet Jewry’s struggle to earn their freedom and immigrate to Israel.

Mr. Sharansky spoke about the impact our community has on the Jewish world, specifically UJA’s support of JAFI, which continues to assist Jews flee persecution in France or the war zone in Ukraine by making aliyah to Israel. Later in the evening, Mr. Sharansky joined human rights activist, Professor Irwin Cotler at Beth Tzedec Congregation for a discussion in front of 1,400.
