Experience Israel Beyond the Headlines

UJA Campaign Chairs’ Journey to Israel

May 5 - 12, 2015

Join us, as we build wonderful friendships and inspiring memories while deepening your connection to the Jewish State. This unique Journey will provide United Jewish Appeal canvassers, donors, and community volunteers an unprecedented opportunity to immerse themselves in the issues facing Israel, and witness, firsthand, the impact of UJA Federation on those issues. Participants will gain valuable insights and knowledge from a myriad of special, exclusive two-way discussions with leading experts from the world of politics, media and strategy, as well as daily site visits, engaging all your senses, making this Journey unforgettable. Your support and leadership have a real impact on the lives of Israelis and Jews around the world.

Highlights include:

Gain extraordinary insight into the global challenges facing the Jewish people, including a resurgence in anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism, in frank and poignant discussions with new immigrants from France and Ukraine, as well as with professional leaders who have extensive international experience.

Celebrate a memorable Lag Ba’Omer as you can only do in Israel, singing and dancing around a bonfire together with young adults from Toronto, who are in Israel on programs supported by UJA, as well as with young Israelis. You'll also appreciate how both groups of young people are strengthening the bond between our community and the people of Israel, with your help.

Experience a compelling day in the area bordering Gaza, learning about the constantly changing realities of life under the shadow of missiles and mortars, and gaining appreciation for the strategic reality facing everyday Israelis, with the help of a noted expert who will guide us for the day. You’ll visit a kindergarten in Sderot that was recently renovated with the help of UJA Federation, and talk to children and their parents, and to newcomers to Sderot. Participants will also meet with young leaders critical in the city's resilience, and with Sderot Mayor, Alon Davidi.

Visit the studios of i24news, Israel’s international 24-hour news and television channel based in Jaffa Port in Tel Aviv. Journey participants will watch a live broadcast, learn of the vision leading to its creation, and enjoy an exciting tour of the facilities.

Hear a post-election update with some of Israel’s leading political and social analysts and meet with newly elected members of the Knesset.

see Israel

See and experience the complex reality of Jerusalem like never before as we explore different neighbourhoods and the Kotel, allowing us to gain unique insights into the city's present and future physical and emotional landscape.

Travel to Israel

Travel to UJA Federation’s Partner Community of Eilat, and witness the compelling challenges and opportunities facing the people of southern Israel, on the frontier of both Egypt and Jordan, and far from the centre of the country. Participants will visit state-of-the-art transformative health, educational and technological projects in which UJA plays a critical role.
