We are a strong community, a vital community, and a growing community. As such, we are in a unique position to help solve the issues facing our people, wherever they are around the world. For the last 100 years, UJA Federation of Greater Toronto has been the nucleus of our great community. UJA has coordinated our efforts, amplified our impact on the Jewish issues that matter most, helped us to fulfill our global Jewish responsibilities, and bear influence far beyond our community’s size.
Jewish issues transcend geography. One moment, our most urgent concern may be terrorism in Israel. Another time, it may be poverty-stricken Holocaust survivors in Toronto. The next, it may be the Jews of Ukraine suffering from war. Jews are a global people with needs of varying urgency at varying times.
UJA has its finger on the pulse of the entire Jewish world, and an eye toward the myriad needs of the global Jewish Nation. We bring this broad perspective, and a consciousness that we are part of something bigger, to everything we do.

Take 77-year-old Holocaust survivor, Sam. When he was found sleeping in his car in the parking lot of the Bernard Betel Centre, the Centre kicked the entire community into action to help him.
How UJA Helped Sam

Higher Quality of Life
UJA brings people together to give together, in order to help more people. Your gift doesn’t stand alone. It gains significant financial leverage thanks to matching funds from UJA’s roster of partner philanthropists, foundations and government organizations.
True donations are divided and allocated to several different strategic priorities. For the purposes of illustrating the power of UJA’s leverage, each allocation category in the chart above utilizes the full donation amount.
UJA has a unique role. In times of universal celebration or crisis, UJA is the only organization that has the ability to bring together every Jew, regardless of religious, political, or other affiliation. For example:
UJA brings together 20,000 people every year to Walk with Israel, the biggest display of support for Israel in Canada and the second biggest in the world.
UJA unites more than 1,500 volunteers from all walks of Jewish life to help solve the biggest issues facing our community.
UJA rallied 12,000 community members to urge their local MPPs to support a motion denouncing the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) at Queen's Park.
