Yom Hashoah V'hagvurah 2023 Community Commemoration

UJA’s Holocaust Education Centre (soon to be the Toronto Holocaust Museum) invites you to join us, alongside partner organizations, for an in-person, community-wide Yom HaShoah commemoration.

This year marks the 80th Anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, an act of resistance and revolt by hundreds of Jewish insurgents in 1943. Join us to commemorate this historic event, with two survivors of the uprising, Pinchas Gutter and Irene Kurtz. The program will also include remarks from dignitaries, choirs, and a candle-lighting ceremony to memorialize and pay tribute to the victims of the Shoah and to honour the survivors. We are grateful to be hosting the program in-person at Holy Blossom Temple.

This important program is presented in partnership with Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center, Canadian Society for Yad Vashem, the Azrieli Foundation’s Holocaust Survivor Memoirs Program, Facing History and Ourselves, and March of the Living Canada. A virtual streaming option will be available for those who wish to participate online.
