Darchei Noam is Toronto’s only Reconstructionist synagogue, where a love of Jewish tradition meets an appreciation of change. We are an inclusive, egalitarian and welcoming community that brings people of all ages and backgrounds together to experience Jewish life as a source of meaning, connection and joy.

Rooted in Reconstructionist values, we see Jewish life as an evolving tradition shaped by every generation. Our community combines meaningful Jewish practice with contemporary expression through Shabbat and holiday services, lifelong learning, Shabbat School and family programming, social justice initiatives, music and the arts, spiritual practice, and opportunities to connect with Israel and the broader Jewish community.

Participation is at the heart of Darchei Noam. Members and lay leaders play an active role in congregational life, working in partnership with our clergy to create a community shaped by shared values, diverse perspectives and a commitment to one another. We welcome people from a wide range of Jewish backgrounds, identities and family structures, including non-Jewish members of Jewish families.

Our congregation is led by Rabbi Ryan Leszner, who brings a passion for teaching, pastoral care, music and community-building to Darchei Noam. A Toronto native, Rabbi Leszner returned home after completing his rabbinic studies at Hebrew College, with specializations in Pastoral Care and Spirituality & Social Justice Leadership. His approach to Jewish leadership is grounded in building relationships, creating meaningful Jewish experiences and helping people find their own connection to Jewish tradition and community.

Founded in 1972, Darchei Noam has grown from a small havurah into a vibrant multigenerational congregation. More than fifty years later, we continue to honour the wisdom of Jewish tradition while creating new possibilities for Jewish life and community.
