Reconstructionist Judaism: Traditional practice, innovative expression

Darchei Noam, Toronto’s only Reconstructionis Synagogue, blends Jewish practice with innovate forms of Jewish expression. We recognize that Jewish life and community are works of imagination, courage and devotion that evolve over time yet preserve their unique wisdom and teachings.

We are an inclusive, egalitarian and welcoming congregation. We aspire to create a sacred space that encourages all who enter to experience Jewish life as a source of joy. In all matters of congregational life, we turn to our common values for inspiration.

Our congregation has been led by the vibrant Tina Grimberg since 2002. With her deep intellect, empathy, and fabulous sense of humour, she has a strong ability to build meaningful relationships, Rabbi Grimberg loves to nurture and integrate new families from diverse backgrounds into our community. She has exceptional talent in leading Jewish and ritual life-cycle events, in which her dedication to our members is obvious.

Judaism is more than a religion – it is the evolving civilization of the Jewish people, encompassing history, literature, art and music, land and language. We share with the entire Jewish people historical memory, a commitment to the Hebrew language and the land of Israel, and a rich legacy of ideas, texts, melodies, values and rituals.
