Soup’s On!

UJA Genesis and Women’s Philanthropy present a unique opportunity to support isolated seniors in our community with a cooking class!

The Bernard Betel Centre and Circle of Care clients will join us in a cooking tutorial on February 23rd to enjoy some socialization and a new healthy soup recipe to get through the winter. Since many community members may have limited access to groceries, we’re also running a food drive to help with the ingredients!

Options for participation:

  1. Donate the full list of soup ingredients for a senior to use during the cooking class.

  2. Purchase two sets of soup ingredients—one to donate to a participating senior and one for you to join the cooking class as well.

  3. Donate supplemental kosher non-perishable food items, such as canned or dried vegetables, beans, and lentils.

  4. Just join the cooking class. Speak to seniors and enjoy this lovely afternoon activity together.

With the elderly experiencing food insecurity and isolation more than others, it’s so important to give back and make sure they have a warm bowl of soup and some great company!

Important dates to note:

  • Register for this initiative by February 7th
  • Drop off donated food items between February 14th and 16th
  • Zoom cooking class on February 23rd at 12:00 PM
