As rockets rain down, teens in Sderot come together to help kids be kids.

Meet Zohar Zuviv, a teen from Sderot, Israel — one of UJA's partner communities. Situated only one mile from Gaza, Sderot has been a frequent target on rocket attacks since 2001. During Operation Protective Edge in 2014, a group of local teens opened shelters for children, providing a safe haven where they could come and play, away from the rocket fire. Inspired to join the efforts to help children in Sderot, Zohar joined the Sinai Shevet Scouts, a program supported by UJA. "We do some amazing things that help the kids here and the community here," says Zohar.
