Passengers hailed as heroes after attempted hijacking on Flydubai flight

'Great Miracle': Passengers and Crew Hailed for Heroism After Attack on Tel Aviv-Bound Flight

A Flydubai flight en route to Tel Aviv was diverted to Saudi Arabia after one pilot stabbed the other pilot and tried to hijack plane, Israeli sources say. The incident caused the aircraft to plummet 17,400 feet in less than two minutes. It has been reported that passengers and crew subdued the assailant, who has been arrested.

The replacement Flydubai flight that carried most of the stranded passengers has landed at Ben Gurion Airport. Saudi Arabia earlier rejected an Israeli request to send a military or civilian plane to bring passengers home.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog said the incident ended in a “great miracle” and moment of “heroism.” He added that Israel will act “in every way to investigate the incident in depth together with our Emirati partners.”
