Temple Har Zion is looking to hire an educator to teach Grade 5/6 (combined class) in our Sunday morning supplementary school.
Teaching Position (Grade 5/6)
September 8, 2024 to May 10, 2025
Sundays: 9:30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
Training and resources will be provided on the curriculum ranging from areas of Israel, personal Jewish History, G’milut Chasadim, to Jewish/Israeli artists. (2-year flipped curriculum)
Teacher Responsibilities
- Build lesson plans that provide meaningful learning experiences that help our students grow and see the relevance of Judaism in their lives.
- Provide copies of prepared lesson plans to the Director of Education each week.
- Prepare and submit summary of classroom activities for monthly parent newsletter
- Serve as a role model and dugma ishitn (lead by example) for classroom (teen classroom assistants)
Teacher Qualifications
- Experience teaching school- age learners
- Dependable, collaborative, energetic and organized
- Ability to support each child in the classroom and work with CERT staff.
- Hebrew skills are an asset but not required
- Police Vulnerable Check will be requested before the start of the year.
- First Aid and CPR Certificate are an asset
