Simcha & Venue Manager

Holy Blossom Temple (HBT) is looking for an energetic, organized, and experienced professional to fill the role of Simcha & Venue Manager. This is an incredible opportunity as HBT was recently renovated and renewed. Events have grown over the past few years within our new and well-loved spaces with the potential for additional expansion and career growth in the future. The Simcha & Venue Manager will be the face of life cycle celebrations and events at HBT and will represent and embody the values of the organization to meaningfully engage our congregation. Direct Reports: this position manages the Audio Visual Manager, 3rd party on-site coordinators, and event staff; and provides guidance to the Facilities Team as related to events. This position reports to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities:

Oversee Venue Rentals & On-site Events: https://holyblossom.org/simchas-events-at-holy-blossom/

  • Lead point of contact for all venue rentals (e.g. private Member and non-Member events, film rentals, third-party/community organizations), ensuring client deliverables are met and critical deadlines are upheld
  • Develop and maintain complete knowledge of facilities, policies, and procedures at HBT 
  • Manage listings on venue websites (e.g. location scouting, etc.), insure HBT has a profile as appropriate on various platforms
  • Create and maintain files in an orderly manner, and ensure and maintain confidentially of all sensitive communication and materials 
  • Ability to handle all incoming inquiries and to work well with clients in the social & corporate market
  • Manage Venue Calendar

Collaborate with the HBT Team

  • Liaise with the Clergy team to organize and support implementation of life cycle events, such as Baby Namings, Brit Milah, Aufruf, and Marriages
  • Consult with the Senior Rabbi on matters of Jewish practice and life cycle decisions
  • Support the transition from hosting a simcha to engagement, working with families and the Membership & Community Engagement ​​team 
  • Collaborate on planning for Congregational Events, including holiday celebrations and related events; execute the planned events / support the event execution, as appropriate
  • Manage 3rd party On-Site Event Coordinators & Event Staff, as applicable
  • Collaborate with and provide guidance to the Facilities Team to ensure event collateral and venue operations are supported and prioritized, enabling HBT to remain a competitive venue/event space
  • Liaise with the Facilities Team for event setups, updating the Venue Calendar details in advance 
  • Supervise the AV Manager, ensure AV for events are planned and supported
  • Act as point-person for the overall HBT calendar, working with the Senior Leadership Team & programmers on advance planning, date availability, etc. Take a leading role at advance planning meetings and weekly admin calendar meetings.
  • Manage the event rentals budget and liaise with the Finance team to ensure timely collections.

Member/Client Relationship Management

  • Curate strong working relationships with vendors and families
  • Manage smooth and supportive handoff to 3rd-party On-Site Event Coordinators, as applicable
  • Manage event contracts, including negotiations
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings and site visit with potential clients 
  • Consult clients to discover creative solutions to realize their vision 

Strategic Planning, Development

  • Create and implement a multi-layered Marketing Plan for internal (membership) and external (community-at-large) venue promotion
  • Collaborate with key members of the Senior Leadership Team on creating a plan sustainable growth for events at HBT; execute the plan, as appropriate
  • Develop marketing materials such as venue packages  
  • Participate in reviewing competitor’s pricing/websites, etc. 
  • Curate content for ​social media as a promotional tool, preparing and scheduling posts, and increasing engagement 
  • Additional tasks and projects as assigned 

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant work experience 
  • Post-secondary education preferred 
  • Excellent written, verbal and digital communication skills  
  • Ability to confidently engage and meet both in-person, via phone and Zoom/Teams. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint), experience working with a CRM (preferably Salesforce) and/or ability to learn new software 
  • Proven decision making, analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Dependable, self-motivated, self-disciplined and team oriented with strong attention to detail 
  • Ability to deliver an exemplary service level which creates an atmosphere that makes our members and guests want to return, giving each user a positive, memorable experience 
  • Excel in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task and manage time effectively 
  • Exceptional follow-through – concierge service 
  • Social media management and digital marketing experience an asset 
  • Experience in event planning and ​established​​ ​network of wedding planners and hospitality professionals and vendors an asset 
  • Knowledge of Jewish lifecycle events/customs/rituals is beneficial and/or keen interest to learn

Additional Information: 

  • This is a full-time permanent position to commence late March 2026 
  • Salary range is $62,000 - $75,000 annually, commensurate with experience plus medical and dental benefits, company matching pension program after one year of employment, and Holy Blossom Temple Membership (if applicable)
  • As inherent in event management, must be able to work outside of traditional business hours as needed as many events will require on-site support from the Simcha & Venue Manager
