Evelyn Schusheim, LL.B, LL.M, Partner, Cummings Cooper Schusheim Berliner LLP

Evelyn Schusheim was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1981 and has practiced corporate tax, estate planning, and tax litigation since that time, primarily for owner-managed businesses. She is a partner at Cummings Cooper Schusheim Berliner LLP.

Evelyn is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars sponsored by the Canadian Bar Association, the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Ontario Institute of Chartered Accountants, and The Law Society of Upper Canada. She has written articles for a number of publications, including the Canadian Tax Journal.

Debby Stern, BComm, CPA, CA, Partner, Audit & Advisory, Crowe Soberman LLP

Deborah (Debby) Stern joined Crowe Soberman’s Audit & Advisory Group as a partner in 2001. Since joining the firm, Debby has continued to grow her practice with a large variety of clients. She provides auditing, business advisory services, cash flows, personal and corporate tax planning, and tax compliance to a wide variety of clients. Her specialties also include succession planning. Debby has developed a succession planning process to assist families in the transition of their business to the next generation, becoming the trusted advisor to many Canadian families.

For four years, Debby mentored female entrepreneurs through the Step Up program, which is designed to assist in growing the mentees’ businesses.

Elena Hoffstein, FEA, Lawyer, Miller Thomson

Elena Hoffstein practices in all areas of estate planning, family business succession planning, corporate reorganization, and both pre- and post-mortem planning. She also advises on cross-border and international matters, will, trusts, and marriage contracts. Elena is a recognized leader in charity law, advising both charities and donors on effective legislative, tax, and regulatory matters and on tax-effective charitable gifting.

In recognition of her leadership and career contributions, Elena received the Ontario Bar Association’s “Award of Excellence in Trusts and Estates.” She is also a recipient of Lexpert’s “Zenith Award” and has earned the preeminent “AV” ranking in Martindale-Hubbell’s PeerReview Ratings.
