Known worldwide as the “First Lady of Nails,” OPI Co-Founder & Brand Ambassador Suzi Weiss-Fischmann initially made her mark on the beauty industry in 1989, when she created the first 30 OPI nail lacquers. In her 40+ years at OPI, Suzi has continued to set trends for the nail industry, including igniting the dark nail revolution with ‘Lincoln Park After Dark’, the first to add real diamond dust to nail lacquer, as well as mainstreamed nail art with Shatter by OPI. One of her best known colours, ‘I’m Not Really a Waitress’, was inducted into Allure’s Beauty Hall of Fame in 2011 after winning the Best Nail Polish award nine times.
Suzi has pioneered the development of OPI partnerships, guiding OPI to become the first nail care brand to collaborate with Hollywood’s top films and celebrities, as well as iconic companies including Coca-Cola, DELL, and Ford Mustang. As Brand Ambassador, she is the go-to authority for beauty editors and fashion designers alike, and is continuously featured in numerous magazines, including W, Marie Claire, Forbes and Martha Stewart Living, as well as appearances on top television programs including Today Show (NBC) and Nightline (ABC).
Hungarian-born, Suzi cultivated her instinct for colour and style in the garment industry of New York City, where she also attained a degree from Hunter College. Now, Suzi lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two children. In 2019, she released her memoir, I’m Not Really A Waitress: How One Woman Took Over the Beauty Industry One Color at a Time.
