I don’t want to leave! Can I stay here forever?

Summer camp season is off to a great start with a growing number of families participating in UJA’s Weekender and PJ Goes to Camp programs. These brief tastes of summer camp are a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to enjoy the camping experience while deciding if overnight camp is the right fit for them.

Last weekend Camps Gesher and Shomria both hosted a Weekender program from Friday to Sunday afternoon, while Camps Northland and Ramah welcomed families for day-long PJ Goes to Camp activities. As one PJ parent who visited Camp Northland noted, “Having the opportunity to see what summer camp actually looks like in person made me realize that this will be awesome for my children.”

Another parent was pleased to see the change in her child’s comfort level following the PJ program, explaining, “At the beginning of the day my child didn’t want to get out of the car, now he doesn’t want to get back in it!”

There are still openings for both PJ Goes to Camp and the Weekender programs at various Jewish overnight camps throughout the summer. To learn more contact Yudit Timbo, Silber Family Centre for Jewish Camping Manger: 416.634.3086 / ytimbo@ujafed.org
