Sherry Cooper - Chief Economist, Dominion Lending Centres

Dr. Cooper is Chief Economist of Dominion Lending Centres. Canada’s leading mortgage and leasing company with more than 2,600 members offering free expert advice across Canada. In this role, Sherry helps Canadians understand the issues surrounding their most important financial decision – buying a home.

An award-winning authority on finance and economics, Sherry is also TMX Industry Professor at DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University.

Named “the megawatt celebrity economist” by Canada’s national newspaper –and repeatedly cited as one of the most influential women in Canada, Sherry served as Chief Economist and Executive Vice-President of BMO Financial Group where she was responsible for global economic and financial forecasting as well as country-risk and industry-risk analysis. She joined BMO Financial Group in 1994 when it acquired Burns Fry, where she had been Chief Economist, Co-Head of Fixed Income and the first female director of a Bay Street investment firm.

Well-known as a media commentator, Sherry’s third book – The New Retirement: How It Will Change Our Future – was a block-buster best-seller.

Dr. Cooper has an M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh. She began her career at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C. where she worked very closely with then-Chairman, Paul Volcker and subsequently joined the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) as Director of Financial Economics.

David Rosenberg - Chief Economist & Strategist, Rosenberg Research & Associates Inc.

David Rosenberg is the Chief Economist & Strategist of Rosenberg Research & Associates Inc., an economic consulting firm he established in January 2020. He and his team have as their top priority providing investors with analysis and insights to help them make well-informed investment decisions. Mr. Rosenberg received both a Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Toronto. Prior to Rosenberg Research, David was Chief Economist & Strategist at Gluskin Sheff + Associates Inc. from 2009 to 2019.

From 2002 to 2009, he was Chief North American Economist at Merrill Lynch in New York, during which he was consistently ranked in the Institutional Investor All-Star analyst rankings. Prior thereto, he was Chief Economist and Strategist for Merrill Lynch Canada, based out of Toronto, where he and his team placed first in the Brendan Woods survey of Canadian economists for ten years in a row.


Benjamin Tal - Deputy Chief Economist, CIBC Capital Markets

Mr. Tal is responsible for analyzing economic developments and their implications for North American fixed income, equity, foreign exchange and commodities markets. He also acts in an advisory capacity to bank officers on issues related to wealth management, household/corporate credit and risk.

Well-known for his ground-breaking published research on topics such as labour market dynamics, real estate, credit markets, international trade and business economic conditions, Mr. Tal not only contributes to the conversation but also frequently sets the agenda.

He has close to 20 years of experience in the private sector advising clients, industry leaders, corporate boards, trade associations and governments on economic and financial issues.

National and global media regularly seek him out for his insight and analysis on economic issues that impact financial markets, consumers, corporations and public policy. He is also a frequent lecturer in the economic programs of various Canadian universities.

Mr. Tal is a member of the Economic Committee of The Canadian Chamber of Commerce, The Economic Development Committee of the Toronto Board of Trade. He is also a member of board of Governors of Junior Achievement of Central Ontario, and a board member of the Toronto Financial Services Alliance.

Jeff Rosenthal, Managing Partner, Imperial Capital Group

Jeffrey Rosenthal is a Managing Partner of Imperial Capital Group, which he cofounded in 1989. Mr. Rosenthal has co-lead the formation of all of the Imperial Capital Acquisition Funds, and the resulting acquisition of a number of successful portfolio companies. He has been integrally involved in the oversight and growth of these businesses, leading or co-leading follow-on acquisitions and arranging both private and public debt & equity financings.

He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Dental Corporation of Canada, Canadian Veterinary Network, Keplr Vision , and Ackerman Security.

He is Co-Chairman of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) and a past Co-Chair of the Toronto United Jewish Appeal Campaign 2011. Jeff is a JFNA Fisher Flight Fellow.

Previous roles include those of former Vice-Chair of the Sinai Health Foundation and the co-founder of Venture Sinai and Past Chair of the Canadian SHAARE ZEDEK Hospital Foundation.

Jeff is married to Lori, his wife of 28 years and is a father of three children, Rachel, Lilah and Benjamin.

Jeff received his B.A. degree with majors in Commerce and Economics from the University of Toronto in 1984, and his M.B.A. in Finance and Entrepreneurial Studies from the Schulich School of Business in 1988.
