Remembering the Pittsburgh Synagogue Attack, One Year Later

On October 27, 2018, eleven Jews – including Toronto-born Joyce Fienberg, z”l – were murdered at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh simply for being Jewish.

In addition to remembering the victims, today is also a poignant moment to rededicate ourselves to countering the dangerous, global rise in antisemitism. UJA and our advocacy agent the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) work to mobilize allies beyond our community to join us in this cause. Thankfully, we have many such friends and allies standing with us, particularly as we remember that dark day one year later.

We urge you to watch and share this series of heartfelt videos we gathered over the past few days, in which family members of Joyce Fienberg and leaders from a diversity of communities throughout our city - including Toronto Mayor John Tory - reaffirm their solidarity with the Jewish people in this troubling time.
