Understanding and Applying Shmitah in the 21st Century with Rabbi Shalom Schachter
Three Monday evenings - January 28, February 4 & 11 at 7:30 pm

The UN warns we have 12 years to limit climate change catastrophe. How can Torah Help? In this three-part course, Rabbi Shalom Schachter explores how the traditional Shimitah system meant for a small sliver of land might guide us towards meaningful corrective action in our world today. Shmitah, meaning release or remission, is the Torah's radical archetype for periodic 'reset'.

Would the goal of a contemporary Shmitah be economic equality, equality of opportunity, or a rhythmic process of opportunity and equality?

Topics of discussion - A Kashrut for Energy; Economic Equality; Mobility and Sanity in Sustainability
