Elaine Gold will discuss an exciting exhibit about Yiddish that will be opening on April 4 at the Canadian Language Museum, of which she is the founding director. The exhibit will combine the sound installation, "The Music of Yiddish Blessings and Curses" by Berlin-based composer Paul Brody, with the visual exhibit “The Yiddish Kheyder” created by Miriam Borden, a doctoral student at the Centre of Jewish Studies at the University of Toronto. Elaine will describe the development of this multi-faceted display and will also outline the history and goals of the Museum, located at Glendon College.
Elaine Gold has a PhD in Linguistics and taught at the University of Toronto for over 20 years. The CLM’s exhibits have toured across Canada, from Victoria to St. John’s, and have been displayed in a wide variety of venues including universities, libraries, museums and community centres.
