The Ve’ahavta volunteer team is dedicated to providing opportunities for volunteers of all ages, which inspire personal growth, increased awareness, and empathy. The volunteer team aims to educate, develop leaders, and provide resources for tools of engagement to ultimately affect social change. Ve’ahavta’s 1500 volunteers are critical to the success of our organization and fulfillment of our mission.
In this role, you would be responsible for implementing and contributing to our volunteer recruitment strategy to help us grow our volunteer base. This includes creating and maintaining accurate job descriptions for each key volunteer role in order to attract the best possible candidate. Active recruitment also includes online recruitment through volunteer sites and social media, as well as offline outreach to schools, community groups and at volunteer fairs.
The Volunteer Relations Coordinator prioritizes the building of rapport with individual volunteers and works to ensure a meaningful and positive volunteer experience has taken place. Essential to a good rapport is recognition, therefore a significant part of this role is to implement a strong recognition plan which includes regular communications, awards and events. This also includes addressing conflicts and/or complaints that may occasionally arise, as well as supporting staff in their supervisory roles.
Evaluation and Feedback
An important aspect of this role is the implementation and analysis of various evaluation and feedback mechanisms, including surveys, feedback forms, program site visits, and anecdotal reporting, allowing us to identify areas for improvement and ensure a high-quality volunteer experience.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will have strong experience working with individuals in a volunteer capacity.
They will exhibit passion and compassion and will know how to also work within emotional and social boundaries. With superb interpersonal skills, this person will be able to build positive relationships quickly with individuals from diverse backgrounds. They will be a self-starter with leadership skills and a growth-mindset.
The ideal candidate is a skilled multi-tasker with excellent time management skills, and proficient in evaluation, survey design and analysis, and reporting. They are also adept at learning new software, databases, and other forms of technology.
In addition to specifications outlined above:
- 1-3 years of related work experience in non-profit field, preferred
- Volunteer management certification is an asset
- Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills
- Experience working with CRM (Salesforce)
