Commemorate Yom HaShoah with UJA’s ShinShinim

Please join UJA’s ShinShinim in virtually commemorating Yom HaShoah and hearing the powerful testimony of Holocaust survivor Eliyahu Yakir.

Born in 1935, Eliyahu is originally from a Polish city that is now part of modern-day Ukraine. At the outbreak of the war, Eliyahu’s father was drafted into the Red Army and he was separated from his family. Throughout the war, Eliyahu was shuffled between orphanages in Ukraine and Pakistan before finally making his way to Kibbutz Ein Hashofet in Israel, where he lives to this day.

He has shared his remarkable survival story all around the world and serves as a poignant reminder of the many trials that children of the war had to endure. We hope you will be able to join us in commemorating the Holocaust by hearing Eliyahu’s story and carrying on his legacy.
