Ben Sadowski Award of Merit

Created by UJA Federation in 1960, this prestigious award acknowledges a volunteer with outstanding leadership qualities and years of involvement in the Jewish and general communities. With his unwavering commitment to people, Ben Sadowski z”l, the first President of the United Jewish Welfare Fund (predecessor to UJA Federation), embodied the definition of a natural leader. This award is his legacy to the Jewish community.

Irving and Toddy Granovsky

Irving and Toddy began their involvement with the Jewish community early on in their marriage, with the encouragement of Irving’s older brother, the late Philip Granovsky. They share a strong drive to advocate on behalf of Jews in need – no matter where they are in the world.

For years, Irving and Toddy have given of their passion, time, energy and philanthropy to various causes throughout the community, with a major focus on Jewish education and continuity in both Toronto and Israel. They are also strong supporters of UJA’s initiatives to counter antisemitism. They have each chaired UJA’s Israel & Overseas committee, and Irving has been heavily involved in the work of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC). They are also both involved in the work of Atlantic Packaging Products Ltd., a family-owned company – with Irving as Chairman of The Board and Toddy as a Director. Irving and Toddy’s philanthropy has always been and continues to be about its impact, not its recognition.

Irving and Toddy are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this June. They have 10 beloved children by birth and marriage, and 22 treasured grandchildren.
