Nanette Rosen

For over 30 years, Nanette’s career and volunteer efforts have been dedicated to protecting and preserving the rights, dignity, and respect of some of Canada’s most vulnerable community members. Nanette served as Counsel for the Department of Justice for much of her career, ensuring fairness and adequate representation in our national legal system. Nanette’s personal commitment to elevating others is reflected in the breadth and depth of her volunteerism both in the Jewish and broader communities. This dedication also led her to put her legal career on hold for three years to work as a Professor at Seneca College in the School of Legal and Public Administration, and subsequently returned the Justice Department as litigation Crown counsel. Nanette volunteered with Justice for Children and Youth, assisting homeless youth and members of the LGBTQ community with citizenship and immigration and the criminal justice system. Nanette served for many years on the Board of the Canadian Mental Health Association (Ontario) as well as the vice chair of the Community Action Committee of the Canadian Jewish Congress. She is an active volunteer with CIJA’s legal task force and is a past chair of JIAS. Nanette continues to sit on the JIAS board, and is chair of its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee.
