Gordy Wolfe Award for Jewish Communal Professional Leadership


The Gordy Wolfe Award was inaugurated in 2008 to honour the memory of Gordy Wolfe z”l. Gordy had a huge personal impact as the executive director of Jewish Family and Child Service (JF&CS) for 22 years. This award honours a visionary, professional communal leader who has made a substantive difference in the life of Jewish Toronto.

SUSAN JACKSON


Susan Jackson is the lead professional at UJA Federation of Greater Toronto for the Israel & Overseas department, which includes Israel Engagement programming, as well as allocation and planning for the portfolio.

 

Her career began more than 43 years ago with the Canadian Jewish Congress. Susan speaks across North America on subjects including Jewish identity, Israel, education, volunteerism, and leadership. Prior to her current role at UJA, she served as executive director of Women’s Philanthropy; Integrated Development Officer; executive director of the Centre for Jewish Knowledge and Heritage; director of Community Planning, Culture, Continuity for UJA’s Israel and Overseas Project Renewal and Partnership 2000; and director of Education, Youth Activities, and Community Services for Canadian Jewish Congress.

 

Susan is fond of saying, “I have run everything except the accounting and technology departments and believe me, I am never going to run those!” When asked what she does for a living, Susan is most likely to respond: “I save the Jewish People!”
