Inclusion Champion Award


This award recognizes an outstanding volunteer within Toronto’s Jewish community, whose exceptional efforts have resulted in a more inclusive Jewish community for people with special needs. The aim is to honour and recognize an outstanding individual who has embraced inclusion and had an impact on the lives of people with special needs. 

No Silence n Race

Sara Yacobi-Harris, Akilah Allen-Silverstein & Yoni Belete


The No Silence on Race core team is led by Founder, Sara Yacobi-Harris. Sara is an artist, filmmaker, media professional, community organizer and the director and producer of Periphery. She has led equity, inclusion and anti-racism strategy and policy implementation, as well as focused community outreach, talent development and festival partnerships at the CBC.

 

Akilah Allen-Silverstein is the Director of Finance and Outreach at No Silence on Race. She is a Certified Financial Planner and Registered Retirement Consultant with Mandeville Private Client Inc. Akilah is also on the board of the East York Rotary club and presently serves on the boards of the Birthright Israel Foundation of Canada Youth Leadership Council.

 

Yoni Belete is the Director of Communications at No Silence on Race. He is a consultant at NATIONAL Public Relations and former Director of Speechwriting and Public Relations at the Embassy of Israel in Ottawa. A proud member of the Ethiopian Jewish community, Yoni volunteers as a tutor in the English Language Program at Friends by Nature, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating and nurturing the next generation of Ethiopian Israeli leaders.
