"I have always had an interest in local history, so volunteering at the Archives was a natural fit. I enjoy working with the historical documents, publications and photos, and helping to make them available to the public. Working with the other volunteers and the archivists is a great experience.”

Sarah and Chaim Neuberger Holocaust Education Centre

Through its museum and programs, the Sarah and Chaim Neuberger Holocaust Education Centre generates knowledge and understanding about the Holocaust and serves as a forum for dialogue about civil society for present and future generations. The Neuberger reaches 30,000 students annually through school visits to the museum, and an additional 35,000 members of the general community through its signature program, Holocaust Education Week. holocaustcentre.com

"My survivor parents shared their stories in order to inform and educate others. The Neuberger program is the embodiment of that same desire and provides students with a deeper understanding of the impact of intolerance and hatred. I am honoured to volunteer for the organization."

United Jewish Appeal (UJA) Annual Campaign

Year after year, UJA’s Annual Campaign - which raises approximately $60 million annually - allows UJA to care for our most vulnerable; build and strengthen Jewish identity and education, invest in Israel and overseas, and promote Jewish/Israel advocacy, while also creating infrastructure throughout the GTA that serves not only the Jewish community, but the community-at-large.  jewishtoronto.com/annual-campaign

Laura Greenberg

“My parents instilled in their four children that you have to share yourself with the rest of the world. I have been a longtime UJA canvasser, and can remember back to a time before computers, when canvasser cards were painstakingly hand typed…… one…… by one (I was one of the typist, on Beverley Street). I just feel good about myself when I know I am helping others.”

Frank & Anita Ekstein Holocaust Resource Library

The library’s status as part of the Sarah and Chaim Neuberger Holocaust Education Centre allows it to play a vital role in that institution’s mission to safeguard the lessons of the Holocaust and impart them to the younger generation. holocaustcentre.com

"I have volunteered for the Ekstein Holocaust Resource Library since 2015. My work allows me to use my education and language skills to preserve historical memory. I primarily work in cataloging and have had the opportunity to create transcripts and records for many Holocaust survivor testimonies so their stories will not be forgotten.”
